6 DAYS DELTA AND CHOBE

Trip Overview

Kick back and relax while being guided through the winding maze of channels in a traditional 'mokoro' canoe. This is the essential Okavango Delta experience! This short wilderness camping tour includes close-up game encounters in the Chobe National Park.

Stage highlights:
Departing from the thriving activity hub of Victoria Falls, we head into the bushveld solitude of the Caprivi Strip before crossing into Botswana.
After transiting into the heart of the Delta by 4x4 vehicle and motorboat, we then change into a more leisurely pace on traditional-style dugout canoe's. Accompanied by some of the friendly local people, your time spent in the wilderness and waterways is sure to leave you with life-long memories! Our Chobe National park experience includes a boat cruise to view the animals, quenching their first, and an eventful game drive.

Stage duration:6 days

Day 1: Northern Namibia

The day begins with breakfast at Savanna Lodge in Victoria Falls. After a short orientation, we depart via Livingstone in Zambia for Northern Namibia and set up camp for the night on the banks of the Kavango River. (Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2 - Okavango Delta

Our journey into Botswana and the Okavango is an experience all of its own! We pass through the waterlogged sandveld by vehicle, followed by an exhilarating motorboat ride. We visit a village in the Delta and the evening is spent 'bush camping' in the wild under the stars in the heart of the Delta. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Stage highlights:
Your first glimpse of the Okavango Delta and the frontier town of Maun.

Remember that game viewing is always a bonus and that you should not expect too much. This area is a dangerous spot for Malaria and so plenty of mosquito repellant should be applied.

Stage duration:1 Day

Day 3 - Okavango Delta

Our time is spent exploring the winding channels and waterways in traditional-style canoes called mokoros. We slow our pace right down, sit back and relax as our local guides or 'polers' share their knowledge of the region and its abundant animal and birdlife. We enjoy an early morning nature walk before the heat of the day sets in. After our day's activities, we arrive in camp for a welcome hot shower and a refreshing drink. We spend our last night at this beautiful spot on one of the main flows of the Okavango River. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Stage highlights:
Up close with nature.

Stage duration:1 Day

Day 4 - Caprivi National Park

Today we reluctantly leave the Delta, transferring by boat and vehicle again, before heading back on a long drive into Namibia for our camp in the Caprivi Strip. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5 - Chobe National Park

We re-enter Botswana for the afternoon's activities in the famous Chobe National Park. A boat cruise on the Chobe River gives us the opportunity to enjoy a close up view of the animals as they come down to drink. At the end of a day of exciting game viewing, we return to camp in Kasane for some well-earned rest and a sumptuous meal under the stars.
